Google Drive is a popular cloud storage platform where many people choose to store their files for easy access anytime. Sometimes we need to copy entire folders and create copies in other locations. Unfortunately, Google Drive does not directly provide the function to copy whole folders, because Google wants to avoid too much duplicate content in Google Drive to save storage space. To accomplish this task, I will introduce two common methods below to help you easily copy folders in Google Drive.

Method 1: Copy Google folders with RiceDrive tool

RiceDrive is a multi-cloud management tool across cloud storage services. It allows users to manage multiple cloud storage accounts on one dashboard, and seamlessly transfer, sync and backup files between these accounts. It supports major cloud storage services on the market, such as Google Drive, Mega, OneDrive, Dropbox and over 30 more. Below we introduce how to easily and quickly copy folders in Google Drive using RiceDrive.

  1. Open your browser and visit RiceDrive's official website (www.RiceDrive.com).

  2. Use your email address to log in to RiceDrive, no registration needed. On the login page, enter your email address and accept the verification code to log in.Login RiceDrive

  5. Click the "Transfer & Download" option on the left to enter the Create Task interface. On this interface, you can create a copy task.

  6. In the Task's "Source", select the source folder you want to copy, and in "Target", select where you want to store the source folder. After selection is complete, click the "Start up" button to create and execute the task.copy google floder

  7. Check the task execution status. On the Task Details page, you can view information such as the task execution status, start time, and end time. This allows you to know in time whether the task was completed successfully, and any potential issues. Based on the information in the logs, you can take appropriate actions to handle any errors or anomalies.copy google floder

Method 2: Manually copy Google folders

This method is to manually copy files from Google Drive (shared with me). Note that it cannot directly copy the entire folder. To copy a whole folder, you need to select all the files in the target folder, create copies of them, and then move them into an existing folder or a newly created folder. This method works for copying a small number of files. If there are too many files scattered across multiple folders, using a professional tool like RiceDrive is recommended. Below I will explain in detail how to manually copy folders in Google Drive.

  1. In your browser, go to drive.google.com and log in to your Google account.

  2. Browse to and enter the Google folder you want to copy.

  3. Check the files you want to copy, and press Ctrl + C to copy them.

  4. Go into a new or existing folder, and press Ctrl + V to paste the copied files.
